studio CAAS — Artist Terms and Conditions

These terms govern the relationship between studio CAAS and any artist or maker who lists their work on the studio CAAS platform. By submitting an application and having your work listed on studio CAAS, you agree to these terms in full.

1. The platform

studio CAAS operates as a marketplace connecting independent ceramic artists with buyers. We list your work, market it, and handle customer communications on your behalf. You make the work, you pack it, and you ship it directly to the buyer.

studio CAAS is a marketplace platform and is not a party to the transaction between you and the buyer. We facilitate the listing and the payment split only. All financial liability for individual transactions including chargebacks, refunds for damaged items, and losses from non-delivery rests entirely with you as the seller of record.

2. Commission, fees, and what you keep

You keep 88% of every sale. This is guaranteed and does not change based on payment processing costs. On a $100 piece you receive $88. On a $200 piece you receive $176. The number is always exactly 88% of your listed price, paid directly to your account.

studio CAAS retains 12% of the total sale price of every item sold through the platform. Out of that 12% we cover all payment processing fees including card processing charges. You never pay any processing fees and they are never deducted from your 88%. We absorb those costs entirely on our end as a cost of running the platform.

There are no hidden fees, no listing fees, and no monthly charges. You pay nothing unless you sell something and you always know exactly what you will receive before you list a single piece.

studio CAAS reserves the right to adjust the commission rate in the future. Any changes will be communicated to all active artists no less than thirty days before taking effect. Continued use of the platform after that notice period constitutes acceptance of the new rate. If you do not agree to a new rate you may request removal of your listings at any time with no penalty.

3. Pricing

You set your own prices. studio CAAS will list your work at exactly the price you provide and will not alter your pricing without your written permission. You may update your prices at any time by contacting us at hello@studio-caas.com. Price changes take effect within two business days of your request.

4. Payouts

Your 88% is paid directly to your account at the point of sale through our payment platform. studio CAAS does not hold, process, or have access to your earnings at any point. The split happens automatically and instantly when a buyer completes a purchase.

To be completely clear on the numbers:

On a $100 sale you receive $88 directly to your account. studio CAAS receives $12 and covers all payment processing fees out of that amount. You receive your full 88% with no deductions of any kind.

You are responsible for providing accurate payment details to the platform. studio CAAS is not responsible for delays caused by incorrect banking information provided by you.

5. Shipping

You are solely responsible for all shipping costs. This includes postage, packaging materials, and shipping insurance. studio CAAS does not cover any shipping costs on your behalf.

Shipping is charged to the buyer separately at checkout and goes directly to you. studio CAAS does not handle or hold shipping funds at any point.

You are required to ship every order within five business days of receiving confirmation that a sale has been made. If you fail to ship within this window the order may be cancelled and the buyer issued a full refund entirely at your expense.

Shipping violations are tracked and enforced as follows:

A first violation within any twelve month period will result in a written warning sent to your registered email address.

A second violation within the same twelve month period will result in a second written warning and a temporary review of your account.

A third violation within the same twelve month period will result in permanent removal from the platform with no appeal.

You must use a tracked shipping service for every order. Tracking information must be provided to studio CAAS within twenty four hours of the order shipping so it can be shared with the buyer.

6. Shipping insurance

You are required to purchase shipping insurance on every order for the full value of the item being shipped. This is your responsibility and your cost.

If an item arrives damaged and you did not purchase shipping insurance, you are solely responsible for issuing a full refund to the buyer. studio CAAS does not absorb losses caused by inadequate packaging or lack of insurance. Failure to issue a refund promptly in this situation will result in suspension or permanent removal from the platform.

If an item arrives damaged and you did have insurance, you are responsible for filing the claim with the carrier. studio CAAS will assist with documentation where possible including providing order records and communications with the buyer.

7. Packaging

You are responsible for packaging every order safely and appropriately. Ceramic pieces must be wrapped with sufficient protective materials including but not limited to bubble wrap, foam, or packing peanuts sufficient to withstand normal handling in transit. Careless or inadequate packaging that results in repeated damage claims is grounds for removal from the platform.

Before packing each order you must photograph the piece clearly showing its full condition. You must also photograph the fully sealed and labeled package before handing it to the carrier. Both photos must be retained for a minimum of thirty days after the order ships and must be provided to studio CAAS immediately upon request.

Failure to take photos or failure to provide them when requested may result in any dispute being decided against you regardless of other circumstances.

8. Damaged and lost items

If a buyer reports that an item arrived damaged, studio CAAS will contact you and request your pre-shipment photos within twenty four hours of the claim being made.

If your photos confirm the piece left your studio in good condition and you purchased shipping insurance, the matter will be directed to the carrier and insurance claim process. studio CAAS will assist in filing the claim.

If you did not purchase shipping insurance and an item arrives damaged, you are solely responsible for issuing a full refund to the buyer directly. studio CAAS does not absorb this cost under any circumstances. Failure to issue the refund within five business days of the claim being confirmed is grounds for immediate suspension from the platform.

If you cannot provide pre-shipment photos, or if photos show the item was already damaged before shipping, you are responsible for issuing the buyer a full refund immediately. Repeated failure to do so is grounds for permanent removal from the platform.

If an item is lost in transit and you used a tracked service, studio CAAS will work with you to file a claim with the carrier. If you did not use a tracked service you are solely responsible for any refund issued to the buyer.

9. Chargebacks and disputes

If a buyer initiates a chargeback with their bank or card provider, the dispute is handled directly between the buyer, their bank, and the payment processor. studio CAAS has no involvement in and no liability for chargebacks against your payment account.

As the seller you are solely responsible for all chargebacks related to your transactions. This includes providing evidence to the payment processor such as tracking information, pre-shipment photos, and order communications. studio CAAS will provide any platform-level documentation we hold to support your case but the responsibility and the financial liability of the chargeback rests entirely with you.

In the event of a confirmed chargeback, studio CAAS will refund its own 12% platform fee to the buyer as a matter of policy. We do not seek to profit from transactions where the buyer did not receive what they paid for. However this refund of our fee is made independently and does not reduce or offset your liability for the remaining 88%.

studio CAAS is not responsible for and will not compensate artists for losses incurred through chargebacks regardless of the reason for the dispute.

10. Quality and authenticity

All work listed on studio CAAS must be handmade by you personally. Mass-produced work, resold items, and non-ceramic items are not permitted on the platform under any circumstances. studio CAAS reserves the right to remove any listing that does not meet this standard without notice.

Every piece must match its description and photos exactly. If a buyer receives something materially different from what was described or shown, you are responsible for issuing a full refund. Repeated misrepresentation of products is grounds for permanent removal from the platform.

11. Listing and representation

By submitting photos and descriptions of your work to studio CAAS, you grant studio CAAS a non-exclusive license to use those photos and descriptions for the purpose of listing and marketing your work on the platform and its associated social media and marketing channels. You retain full ownership of your work and your images at all times.

studio CAAS will not sell, license, or transfer your images or work to any third party outside of normal marketing activity without your explicit written permission.

12. Three strike policy

studio CAAS operates a clear three strike policy for shipping violations as outlined in section 5. Outside of shipping violations, the following actions may also result in immediate removal from the platform without warning:

Misrepresenting the nature or condition of your work. Contacting buyers directly outside of the platform without authorization. Failing to respond to studio CAAS communications for more than five business days during an active order or dispute. Conduct that is harmful, abusive, or threatening toward buyers, studio CAAS staff, or other artists on the platform.

13. Removal from the platform

Either party may end the relationship at any time. You may request removal of your listings by emailing hello@studio-caas.com. studio CAAS will process your removal request within five business days.

studio CAAS reserves the right to remove any artist from the platform at any time for violations of these terms. Any outstanding earnings owed to you at the time of removal will still be paid on the normal schedule provided there are no open disputes or unresolved refund obligations on your account.

14. Payment flow and liability

Payments are split automatically at the point of sale. Your 88% goes directly to your payment account the moment a purchase is completed. studio CAAS collects its 12% platform fee separately and covers all payment processing costs out of that amount. At no point does studio CAAS hold, touch, or have access to your 88%.

To be explicit: studio CAAS never sees your money, never holds your money, and never has the ability to deduct from your money. Your earnings go directly from the buyer to you. Our fee goes directly from the buyer to us. These are two separate and simultaneous transactions.

studio CAAS is a marketplace platform and is not a party to the transaction between you and the buyer beyond facilitating the listing and the payment split. All financial liability for individual transactions including chargebacks, refunds for damaged items, and losses from non-delivery rests with you as the seller of record.

15. Limitation of liability

studio CAAS is a marketplace platform and is not responsible for the actions of artists, carriers, or buyers beyond what is outlined in these terms. Our total liability to any artist in connection with the platform is limited to the 12% platform fees collected from that artist in the thirty days preceding the relevant dispute.

16. Changes to these terms

studio CAAS reserves the right to update these terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on the platform and all active artists will be notified by email at least thirty days before any material changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after that period constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

17. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the state in which studio CAAS operates. Any disputes arising from these terms will be resolved in the courts of that jurisdiction.
